Dermal Filler Treatments: The Future is Now

What is it?

Injections of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in your skin but diminishes with age, are used to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to your skin. Dermal fillers are among the most effective tools available to lift and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (Nasolabrial folds).

What does it do?

Dermal fillers work by filling gaps in the layers of hyaluronic acid in your skin. They diminish the

appearance of wrinkles by plumping up your skin and lifting it, so it looks supple, young and natural.

Facial lines and features that can be corrected using these hyaluronic acid fillers are:

• Worry lines that run across the forehead (forehead lines)
• Crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes (periorbital lines)

What does it feel like?

An ultra-fine needle is used to inject the dermal filler directly into the treatment area. It may sting slightly and some patients choose to have a topical anesthetic cream or block administered. These treatments typically take 30 to 45 minutes and some patients experience swelling that dissipates within 72 hours (usually much sooner). Most clients return to their normal daily activities immediately post-treatment.
